Gubernatorial Candidate Cinde Warmington Takes on Trash

More than any other high-profile candidate in 2024, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Cinde Warmington of Concord is pushing to win over voters who believe New Hampshire should no longer be the dumping ground for New England’s trash.
In a hard-hitting ad that debuted Wednesday, Warmington vowed to do something about it if she is elected.
The candidate went to Dalton, the site of a proposed landfill near Forest Lake, to outline her plan, which would include fighting to impose a moratorium on new landfills, banning landfills next to lakes and state parks and placing limitations on how much trash can be imported to the Granite State.
Warmington said the state should adopt safeguards to ensure waste adheres to toxicity standards and should fill vacancies on the Waste Management Council, which currently lacks a chairman, public health expert, municipal representative and public member.
“I’m Cinde Warmington and I’m running for governor because we have had enough of this garbage,” Warmington said.
Rep. Linda Massimilla, D-Littleton, has pursued many of these initiatives through legislation that’s failed at the State House. She praised Warmington for stepping up.
“We need a leader in the corner office who will stand up to out-of-state interests looking to profit off of polluting our land, air, and water, instead of bowing down to them. That leader is Cinde Warmington,” Massimilla said.
