Plastic bag and film drop off directory to help consumers recycle more
Virginia-based Trex Co. has launched an innovative new plastic bag and plastic film drop off directory which will help consumers who are concerned that their plastics aren’t being recycled. The project, entitled the NexTrex Plastic Recycling Drop-Off Directory, offers consumers an easily searchable online database dedicated to connecting “eco-minded Americans with Trex recycling partners in their local communities.” The directory also has a crowdsource function, allowing users to submit alternative locations for the database and help it grow.
“Plastic film is a tricky material that cannot be recycled in curbside bins with other recyclable materials, such as paper, cardboard and glass,” said Stephanie Hicks, materials and recycling programs manager for Trex. This project aims to help consumers who care about recycling these materials take agency.
