Peecycling Coming to the Granite State?

Vermont’s Rich Earth Institute has been turning human urine into fertilizer for use on Vermont farms since 2012. According to the project’s founders, there are many benefits to this so-called “peecycling,” including that it is both a sustainable agricultural practice and that it cuts down on agricultural water usage. The Institute currently collects urine from over two hundred donors in New Hampshire, and has begun the process of acquiring permits to spread the fertilizer it creates through the process to Granite State Farms.
