NH House Kills Last Surviving Bill to Address Landfill Siting
After a Committee of Conference resolved differences between House and Senate versions of HB61, the House voted 134 to 238 against concurrence with the compromise version. HB61 would have enacted a two-year moratorium on permits for new landfills, directed the Department of Environmental Services to hire an independent consultant to review current setback rules and recommend criteria for permitting future landfills.
